Financial Investigation Team Leaders

Robert A. Garvey, Jr., CPA, CFE, Cr.FA, CVA, CFF, is the practice leader for the firm's Financial Investigation Services and a principal in the Firm. Bob has over 30 years of experience in auditing, investigative accounting and business consulting. His practice specializes in forensic accounting, fraud investigation, fraud deterrence services and business valuation. He works closely with both plaintiff and defense attorneys. Bob has worked on many cases ranging from simple contract disputes to multi-million dollar, multi-level international fraud cases.
Bob testifies as an expert witness on matters involving complicated financial transactions, allegations of employee fraud, shareholder disputes, divorce issues and accounting malpractice. He has developed and taught courses on fraud investigation and forensic accounting and is a frequent lecturer to trade groups on the subject of employee fraud and abuse.
Bob is a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Bob is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Accounting.

Jeffrey R. Gross, MA, CFE, CFCE, DABFE heads the Computer Forensic Division of the practice. He has extensive experience in computer forensics and electronic evidence investigations and analysis in addition to litigation support. His specialties include the imaging and recovery of all electronic evidence content including deleted, covert, protected, hidden and ambient data; reconstruction of damaged or deleted data and retrieval of all evidence and activity trails; authentication of data and files; and preparing risk and vulnerability assessments and countermeasures. He is licensed and experienced with most of the forensic tools in use by the international law enforcement community including having completed advanced training through NTI. A graduate of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice with both Undergraduate and Graduate degrees, Jeff is a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Diplomate with the American Board of Forensic Examiners, a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners and an I.A.C.I.S. Certified Forensic Computer Examiner.

John B. Richardson III, CPA, CFE is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner who has pioneered forensic auditing and accounting for forty years. He directs independent forensic audits and financial investigations, and provides forensic accounting expertise to clients and attorneys in complex litigation. He is an expert witness in civil and criminal proceedings. He has testified in state and federal courts, grand juries, city and county commissions, Bar Grievance Committee hearings, arbitrations and ADR proceedings in numerous jurisdictions throughout the United States. John is also an arbiter in complex construction matters.
John developed and taught several fraud and investigative accounting courses for the FBI, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement. John lectures on forensic accounting and auditing to insurance companies, law firms, public accountants, professional associations, and university undergraduate and graduate schools. In addition, he taught college level accounting principles, managerial accounting, and income tax for four years.
John is a member of the American Institute of certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountant, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section of the Division of CPA Firms, and the AICPA Consulting Division. He is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi professional honorary accounting fraternity.
